Account information. When you sign up — typically via Google sign-in — we receive your name, email address, profile photo (if you choose to import it), and a unique account identifier from Google. You can also set a pen name and bio.

Content you create. The stories, illustrations, characters, captions, and book metadata you create or upload are stored on our servers so you can edit, share, and publish them.

Payment information. When you buy credits, subscribe, or order a printed book, our payment processor (currently Stripe) handles the card data directly. We don't store full card numbers; we receive a token identifying the payment plus your shipping address (for physical books).

Device and usage data. We collect routine information about how you interact with the Service — pages visited, features used, approximate location (from IP), browser, device type, and timestamps — to operate, debug, and improve the product.

Communications. If you email us or fill out a support form, we keep what you send so we can respond.

We may also share information when required by law (e.g. in response to a valid subpoena or court order) or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Bitbook, our users, or the public — including to enforce our family-friendly content rules.

Bitbook is intended for adults and for older children using the Service with a parent. Children under 13 are not allowed to create their own accounts.

When parents create books featuring their children — adding a child's name or likeness to a personalized story — that information is treated as part of Your Content. It's stored for the parent's account, used only to render the book they create, and never sold or shared with advertisers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, contact hello@readbitbooks.com and we'll delete it.

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure how the Service is being used. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some parts of the Service may not work without them.

You can update your account information, your pen name, and your bio at any time in your account settings. You can delete your account from settings or by contacting us — when you do, we delete your books and personal data on a reasonable schedule, though copies may persist in backups for up to 90 days and we may retain certain data where required by law (e.g. tax records for paid orders).

Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA), you may have additional rights — including the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain uses. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@readbitbooks.com.

Bitbook is operated from the United States and our service providers are primarily based in the United States. By using the Service from outside the US, you understand that your information will be transferred to and stored in the US, which may have different data-protection rules than your country.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. After you delete your account we remove your data on a reasonable schedule (typically within 90 days), except where we're required to keep certain records longer (e.g. financial records related to paid purchases).

We use industry-standard practices — encryption in transit, access controls, regular software updates — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we encourage you to keep your account credentials confidential and to use a strong password on your linked Google account.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll let you know in the app or by email before the change takes effect. By continuing to use the Service after a change, you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
