From the story

You come home in the spring; Joe carries you inside while Zora sniffs your toes.

This book holds the small things of our year: fan clicks, bath splashes, Zora’s wag.

You kick. Water pats the tub. Tiny hands clap suds onto the towel.

Joe rubs your head with a warm towel. You burble and reach for the duck.

Zora waits at the door. You grin and shake water like a tiny fountain.

Zora sniffs your fingers and gently pats the floor with her tail.

You laugh and reach. Zora leans in and presses her cool nose to your hand.

You crawl toward Zora and she dances away, quick paws and an eager wiggle.
